These hand-painted porcelain earrings feature a painted design on both sides of each charm, faithfully reproducing the spirit of a historical screen.
- Front panel: The wind god and the thunder god painted by Ogata Kōrin (尾形光琳) , capturing the power and dynamism of the elements.
- Reverse side: The summer and autumn grasses of Sakai Hōitsu (酒井抱一) , which were originally painted on the back of Kōrin's folding screen, but separated for preservation. This pendant thus restores the original relationship between the front and back of the screen , in a single piece.
Behind the god of thunder, the rain revitalizes the summer grasses , while behind the god of wind, the wind animates the autumn grasses and lifts the red leaves of the wild vines , recreating the harmony and movement of the seasons as on the historic screen.
